A builder’s risk policy typically protects against a wide range of perils, though specific coverage can vary by carrier. 
  • Physical Damage: Protection against fire, lightning, wind (may have limitations in coastal areas), hail, and explosions.
  • Theft and Vandalism: Coverage for materials and equipment on the job site or stored off-site.
  • Materials and Supplies: Insurance for building materials, fixtures, and/or equipment intended for the project, whether on-site or in transit.
  • Temporary Structures: Coverage for items like scaffolding, fencing, and forms used during construction.
